The Batavia Local School District converted three natural grass fields into synthetic turf as the first phase of a campus master plan. The district was in the process of passing a levy to build a new high school and new middle school on their existing campus site, bringing all district students onto the campus. Converting the fields to synthetic turf ensured year-round practice and game space for all district sports and their athletes, especially during the rainy seasons.
Sportworks Design was hired by the Elevar Design Group to help convert the stadium field, baseball field, and softball fields into synthetic turf. Sportworks designed the demolition of the natural grass fields and created the new field layouts, including fencing. We designed utilities like storm sewer, stormwater management, and the electric conduit for play clocks.
This project ran in conjunction with an athletic building project where updates were made to the stadium entrance, stadium concessions, ticket booth, and a new baseball/softball press box was installed.
