Sportworks Design provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the Expressway Park FCC Training Center in Milford, Ohio. The $30 million, 23.6 acre project serves as the training facility for FC Cincinnati’s soccer. The new facility hosts between 20 soccer-related events a year, including first-team scrimmages, FCC Academy games and local soccer tournaments. The training complex includes three full-size, lighted soccer fields – including two stabilized natural grass surfaces and one synthetic turf surface – as well as a goalkeeper-specific training area. The site’s master plan called for a 500-seat covered stadium to host scrimmages and FCC Academy games. Additionally, the facility supports the regional youth soccer movement.
The organization and layout of the first-team facility is designed to encourage selective interaction between FCC Academy players and professionals and to serve as an inspiration for the youth players as they aspire to earn a place on the FC Cincinnati first team.
