This existing softball field was battling ongoing issues beyond manageable by the grounds crew, including undulations in the outfield, failure to drain in the infield along the backstop wall and dugout, and needing a fresh, natural turf. Sportworks Design provided civil engineering services to renovate the field and provide long-term solutions to these issues.
The design included removing the existing sod, installing new drainage, providing a sand cap layer, laser grading the field, and topping it with sand-grown sod. Sportworks worked closely with the university to meet a tight schedule and budget so the field could be ready for the 2022 spring softball season.
