Old River Athletic Facility

Oakwood, Ohio

Sportworks Design provided civil engineering and landscape architecture design for the new athletic stadium facility for the Oakwood School District. The original track at the high school was too small and did not allow for larger track meets. The new track enables the school district to host larger competitions like district meets and tournaments.

The new ADA accessible stadium can seat 700 fans and houses an impermeable synthetic turf soccer field; a regulation-size eight-lane track used for field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and field events; field lighting; bleachers; concessions; restrooms; a training room featuring a partnership with Kettering Health Network; storage for field and facility maintenance; a new parking lot; and a metal sculpture bike rack integrated into the sidewalk on the north side of the field.

While the new complex is used primarily for sports, it can house non-sporting events, giving the city another venue the community can use. The approximate cost for the project was $4 million.
